I believe it is sometime essential to enter a region without having a specific story or targeted agenda in mind. So often a photographer or journalist can be so fixated on a specific story that equally important social justice issues can be missed, even while being played out right before our eyes. With this in mind, I decided to put aside my project agenda and began wandering around the rural communities in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Unknowing what I would find, I began observing the societal struggles of hunger, poverty, and the lack of medicines, clean drinking water and available schooling.
