The Khasi Hills Unitarian Child Orphanage

Nestled amongst barren rocks and rolling hills of dry grass in the Khasi Hills of India lay several small Unitarian villages. One village, Kharang, is home to the Unitarian Child Orphanage. At any time, the orphanage supports between 15 and 25 youths from surrounding villages. These children, who range from ages six to 15, have created an amazing family between them. The older children take on the responsibility of helping to raise the younger ones. Each day, they together share not only laughter and song, but also responsibilities such as cooking and cleaning. In the evenings, they study and practice English by candlelight.
